Congress hints at bumpy ride for govt in Winter Session regarding GST BillBuoyed by the impressive victory against the NDA in Bihar, Congress on Sunday hinted that the forthcoming Winter Session of Parliament could be a bumpy ride for the NDA government when it comes to pursuing legislative agenda, the most important being the GST Bill. The party is set to talk to other Opposition parties to form a joint strategy to raise the “growing intolerance” issue forcefully in the House.

When asked about the GST Bill, Congress deputy leader in Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma told The Indian Express: “Bills are not our priority. Our priority is what is happening in the country. Parliamentary democracy cannot be limited to one bill or two bills. That is not as important as BJP is thinking it to be.”

“These issues (of intolerance) were there even before the Bihar verdict. These issues concern every Indian. We will work together with the Other opposition parties… Parliament is not only about listening to what the government is saying…It is about politics outside…what is happening in the country. These issues cannot be brushed aside,” Sharma said.
