ICAI northern chapter hosts seminar on GSTThe northern India regional council of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) recently organized a seminar on the theme "GST- Game-Changer for the Economy and Industry" at the Scope Convention Centre here.

 

The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. A.S Durgaprasad, President, ICAI.

 

Former joint secretary V.K Garg was the key speaker at the seminar.

 

He spoke at length covering various aspects of GST.

 

The members had a lively interaction and their questions were responded to the highest intellectual satisfaction. Mr. Garg, who has played a key role in the drafting of the GST, explained at length and breadth its importance.

 

Dr.Durgaprasad, conveyed to the members that the industry is looking at us with lots of hope and positivity.

 

Referring to the notification on Companies (Cost Records and Audit) Rules, he said that good times (Acche Din) are ahead.

 

"GST is an evolving process. There are clear indications that it will be rolled out from April 2016 as announced by the Government. Everybody will be benefitted from it. Consumers at large will be happy with this integrated taxation policy and also India is one of the Countries to implement double taxation at such a large scale. It will boost the economy of the country," he added.

 

Vijender Sharma, Chairman, NIRC of ICAI welcomed all 300 members and thanked them for their overwhelming support.

 

He said that CMAs' are an integral part in the development of economy. CMAs have to play a vital role in 'Make in India' Campaign.

 

Rakesh Singh, Past President, ICAI, acknowledged the contribution of members and urged them to be equipped to face the challenges.

 

Rakesh Bhalla, former Chairman, NIRC also thanked members for making the seminar a great success.
