Expect GST to have a positive impact on port companies: Sudip Bandyopadhyay

GPPL has this RO-RO terminal. Four-five days ago, there was news that SEZ players will be exempted or the MAT rate would come down quite substantially, which is positive for Adani Port. ABG Terminals which is setting up a few ports is talking about capacity going up almost 10-15 times. So each of these port companies have news of their own which will benefit. With the GDP also likely to show an enhancement going ahead, do you think the port companies are a good place to bet on ?

Sudip Bandyopadhyay: Absolutely correct. This is what these port companies have been waiting for. Gujarat Pipavav is trying to fill up a critical gap in their offering. With all this, there is going to be good time for the port companies. We were trying to also analyze the impact of GST on some of these ports which are in one part of the country. With GST happening, the movement of goods will be much more easier across the country. So the efficient ports irrespective of their location will start catering to much larger market as far as the demand is concerned. So let's see how GST also boosts the prospects of these ports which are efficient and which have all the service offerings.
